The journal entry window is where the users will spend most of their time. It contains many or the expected Macintosh features, such as the Close Box, Grow Box and the Zoom Box. Being familiar with the Macintosh the user will know what these items do. With this in mind, I will not take time to explain them here. It also contains some items that are unique to the Introspective application.

  26. Built into every new data file is a topic for every date of a year. These are set when the topic menu is set to Date. Yearly topics can be added with the Topic Menu Item called ‚ÄúAdd Topic‚Ķ‚Äù

  38. Enter only letters or numbers. Everything else will be striped when the Okay button is pressed.

  40. Note: Users can change the name of a yearly topic by holding down the ‚åò key while selecting the topic name to change. A similar dialog to the new topic dialog will appear, allowing the user to change the name. The same restrictions as a new topic apply.

  42. Month Menu

  44. This menu is only available when the Topic menu is set to ‚ÄúDate‚Äú. This allows the user to jump to any month of the current year.

  48. This menu is only available when the Topic menu is set to ‚ÄúDate‚Äú. The end user will be taken to any day of the current month. Invalid days are dimmed and can not be choosen.

  50. Previous Day Button

  52. When the Topic menu is set to ‚ÄúDate‚Äú, this button is enabled. When the user clicks this button Introspective jumps to the previous day. Viewing the first day of the year, Previous Day Button, will only beep, since there is obviously no previous day available in the data file.

  56. When the Topic menu is set to ‚ÄúDate‚Äú, this button is enabled. Introspective jumps to the next available day, when this button is clicked. When viewing the last day of the year, Next Day Button, will emit a beep when pressed, since there is no next day available in the data file.

  58. Hide Window Button

This button works just like the hide window menu item discussed earlier. Hide Window Button temporarily hides the journal entry window. Useful if someone should enter the computer area and may be able to see the text just entered. The window is displayed again when either a key is pressed, or if the mouse is pressed in the menu bar.

  62. Save w/New Access Code Button

  64. This button allows the user to save the current journal file with a new access code. Once a new access code has been entered the entire file is re-encoded.
